The Sky is Grey

October 28, 2009

The sky is grey.  The snow’s come.  Flakes of it falling on yellow leaves.  The first real snow of the season.

Funny how you might want some comfort food at a time like this.

  1. Chili and cornbread? Roasted chestnuts?

  2. Spicy applesauce!

  3. Weather like that is made to sing “California Dreamin’” to yourself.

    “All the leaves are brown,
    And the sky is grey,
    I’ve been for a walk,
    On a Winter’s day…”

Taking pleasure in the quiddity of the thing.

  4. “California Dreaming” is classic for a day like this.

  5. Man of Roma Says:

‘California dreaming’ – so it seems we belong to the same generation.

  6. I don’t know – my son the music major says that song is virtuous on many levels. Good stuff crosses generations.

  7. Man of Roma Says:

    @decrepitoldfool

I guess so. My daughters agree.

  8. The club of old geezers agrees.

  9. leguru Says:

    And those IN California agree.

Snow this early? Must be that damn George Bush and his Global Warming! Sometimes I almost wish the president didn’t have the power to change weather.

  10. I miss Colorado.

We lived in Louisville for five years (moved there from California). That’s where my wife Joanne learned how to make her chili.

Here is a story about one of the best days I’ve ever had, in the deep and fresh snow, with our dogs Sammy and Maxx:
