A Note About an Earlier Post on the Lakota
September 7, 2008
Earlier today, I posted an essay on the Lakota way of life that was based on Ruth Beebe Hill’s work, Hanta Yo. After the post had been up for several hours, I learned by sheer chance that the book was considered controversial among scholars. Although I have not yet found out what the controversy is all about, I am suspcious the book might not be as accurate a depiction of the Lakota way of life as I have been led to believe. So I have taken down the essay so as to not risk misleading people about the Lakota. I will now attempt to find out more about the controversy surrounding the book before I put the post back up again — if I put it up again. I apologize for any trouble this has caused you.
Please note: Although the post has been made private, some people might still be able to read it. I don’t know why that is.
