A Room with a View by Richard Penlington
Snowdownia through the window of a slate miner’s shack. To me, the frame of darkness, the light on the slate, and the way the hues work together, gives the image poignancy.

Didn’t know it was snowing today in north Wales!

cold mist flared over bare shoulder
her soft bottom felt his rigid intent
silky pelt enveloped with musky heat
snowflakes still fell indifferent

Imagine the extremes in the life of that slate miner – perhaps down underground all day, coming home to this sublime view of the heights.

I love the way the bricks frame the view in a jagged way. It seems more… authentic that way.

Lirone has written a beautiful poem, which can be found here, inspired in part by Penlington’s photo.
