Shocking! Citizens Impoverished By Christmas Shopping!

December 12, 2007 · 9 Comments

The shocking photo above depicts an all too common sight in Southern California these days: A citizen of this, the world’s greatest democracy mall, worn threadbare by two weeks of merciless, nonstop Christmas shopping.

Moments before our photographer caught her trudging dejectedly towards the local Toys R Us store, she had pawned her shirt to raise funds for her niece’s Christmas gift — a $150 robotic doll that not only cries and wets itself, but fries it’s own electronic circuits.

What can you do for her and the millions like her who are impoverished by Christmas shopping this season?

You can donate lavishly to Uncle Sunstone’s Rescue Foundation For Tattered Shoppers. Simply have your credit card ready when you call 1-800-SUNSTONESCAM. Operators are standing by! Won’t you make this holiday season special for someone?

(Legal Notice: Your donation is not tax deductible and 99.9% of your donation will be applied to administrative fees for the Foundation. The remainder will be cast as pennies on the sidewalk to be recovered by hungry shoppers.)

    LOL. That. was funny :)

Also (sad, but) I wonder why the homeless people suddenly get hungry during Christmas. There are slogans and brochures and campaigns calling for donations. I’m sure some of them are similar to your proposed SUNSTONESCAM… ;)

…am I the only one who thinks that someone who dresses like this is out of either their mind or their body?

Maybe not - I am just asking.

By the way great post - making a poignant point about the loopiness of consumerism clashing with charity…oh and the idea of what Christmas is suppose to mean ideally.

Just think how much the billions spent on soon to be recalled games and toys could help feed the hungry.

    Priceless!

I think that that charities ask for donations during the holidays more because 78% of giving by Americans is during the holiday season (between mid-November and January). I can’t remember the exact number, but it’s the majority of money given during the year.

    Wow, talk about flaunting it!

Anyway…great post. Tis the season! lol

Raatkiranii, I’m not entirely sure what I think about her flaunting it. I mean, she’s beautiful, she has every right to flaunt it, and I have no moral problems with her flaunting it. All the same, on an aesthetic level, I prefer the beauty of non-sexualized nudity to the glare of sexualized semi-nudity. It seems to me that her clothing is along the same lines as too much make up on a young girl. It’s more of a distraction than an asset. Does that make any sense?

I think it quite obvious that she will NEVER HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT not having money. Hell I ‘ll throw her a dollar. In fact why not have strippers who donate their time for charity? Anyone got a dollar?

She’s pretty fooking hot to be fair and i think you’re all being a bit harsh on the poor girl

    I wish she’d turn around
